In the Blink of an Eye by Walter Murch. A multiple Oscar winning sound and film editor he is famous for standing while editing as if he were a conductor or surgeon. Most notable for the films The Godfather, The Conversation, The Godfather II, Apocalypse Now, The English Patient, and Cold Mountain. I personally believe that this man is a genius!
Walter's set of  criteria that should always be on an editor's mind (in descending order by importance):
1) Emotion
2) Story
3) Rhythm
4) Eye-trace
5) Two-dimensional plane of Screen
6) Three-dimensional space of action


The Camera Assistant's Manual by David Elkins. A no nonsense "how-to" for anyone who wants to work in the camera department. http://www.cameraassistantmanual.com/

The Grip Book by Michael G. Uva. A no nonsense "how-to" for anyone who wants to work in the grip department.

Film Scheduling by Ralph Singleton. For those students interested becoming an Executive Producer, Producer, Production Manager or Assistant Director. There is also a companion workbook with practice exercises. Just look up Ralph Singleton on IMDB.(The Internet Movie Database)

Script Supervising and Film Continuity by Pat P. Miller. Interested in continuity and script supervising? This is also a must read for anyone who wants to be a Director. Directors rely heavily on these masters of detail to save them on the set and off.
